On 23 August 2026, the Southern Giants Falcons, a specialised UAV unit of Yemen’s pro-government Southern Giants Brigades militia, targeted two Houthi-affiliated barracks in the Al Bayda Governorate.
Media posted to the Southern Giants Brigade’s ‘X’ account shows UAVs remotely delivering IEDs, each consisting of a modified projected grenade with a plastic tail fin. Several Houthi casualties were reported, in addition to the destruction of equipment.
The strikes were conducted in response to Houthi activity in Al Bayda Governorate, including personnel movements, field reinforcements, and the construction of defensive positions along the Al Bayda front.
From August 2026, the Yemeni Armed Forces have increased military operations targeting Houthi fighters across Yemen.
