On 1 July 2026, Pakistan security forces intercepted a fixed-wing UAV reportedly launched from Afghanistan. The UAV had crossed into Pakistan at approximately 05:00 and crashed near Mullagori in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. Subsequently, the UAV wreckage was recovered by EOD.
The developments follow renewed tensions in the region, despite the October 2025 ceasefire agreed between Pakistan and Afghanistan. On 29 June 2026, the Taliban claimed to have conducted targeted airstrikes in Pakistan, with Pakistan later alleging that four rudimentary UAVs were launched into their territory.
