On 26 October 2026, the Africa Corps of the Russian Armed Forces (RuAF) posted footage of a OWA Lancet UAV targeting two boats in Mali. The vessels were reportedly transporting munitions and equipment for the Azawad Liberation Front (FLA) and Jamaath Nusrathal Islam wal Muslimeen (JNIM).
Lancet-type UAVs manufactured by Zala Aero Group have been documented operating in Ukraine since 2020. EWS’ OverSite database has recorded multiple events in Mali involving the use of Lancet UAVs by Africa Corps to target FLA and JNIM vehicles, personnel, infrastructure as well as fuel supply points.
