Between the 8 – 11 August 2026, UAVs targeted the National Oil Corporation’s (NOC) Az-Zawiyah Oil Refinery in Az-Zawiyah, Libya. Across the four days, damage to the refinery’s naphtha tank, tank 402-T, diesel tank No. 2 and diesel tank No.4 were reported. Images subsequently circulated show debris from multiple OWA FPV UAVs equipped with fibre optic spools. The Al-Harsha Water Desalination Plant and the South Zawiya Power Station were additionally targeted in Az-Zawiyah on 9 and 12 August 2026.
The NOC have strongly condemned the repeated attacks, urging authorities to intervene and launch a comprehensive investigation. Although no group has claimed responsibility, the attacks come during a period of escalating tensions between the First Support Battalion, the al-Silaa Brigade and the al-Nasr Brigade.
