On 10 April 2026, a Hezbollah OWA FPV UAV targeted an Israel Defence Force (IDF) vehicle transporting military personnel in Taybeh, Nabatieh Governorate. Reports state the UAV was likely equipped with a fibre optic spool and a PG-7-type RPG warhead. Hezbollah has launched attacks involving fibre optic FPV UAVs targeting IDF vehicles, including Merkava Mk.4 tanks and a Caterpillar D9 armourer bulldozer.
Hezbollah has been operating FPV UAVs since 2024. In recent weeks the number of FPV UAV attacks on IDF targets claimed by Hezbollah has increased. Multiple videos circulating demonstrate Hezbollah’s use of OWA FPV UAVs striking a variety of IDF targets, including personnel, vehicles and infrastructure. This escalation comes as the IDF expand operations further north in Lebanon, resulting in a larger number of targets available at a closer distance for Hezbollah to strike using UAVs. On 16 April 2026 at 17:00, Israel and Lebanon will implement a cessation for an initial period of ten days. This understanding was brokered by the United States of America (USA) following proactive talks on 14 April 2026.
